Harry Bearskin: My name is Harry Bearskin. I am a Chisasibi Cree Narrator: Harry Bearskin is 64 years old. He’s at his winter camp inland from Chisasibi.

Harry Bearskin: These were used in the past before there were snowmobiles. People used these and only these when they traveled. They hauled their tents, blankets, food and hunting tools.

This is the “Shakaupan”. That’s the Cree word. This is where you’ll tie your load to your sled.

Harry Bearskin: A man that doesn’t make anything doesn’t influence his children to make anything either. That’s why I’m always making something.

Harry Bearskin: There are rapids near the head of the lake and there are many “Minhiikuch” – White spruce. That’s why it’s called that. If you go further east, you won’t find any.
