Billy Joe Green

Fara Palmer

Burnt Project 1

All of the artists have a tie to Residential Schools. Billy Joe attended Cecilia Jaffray Residential School in Kenora. Fara Palmer's mom and family attended schools across Saskatchewan. Burnt Project 1 represents the new breed of intergenerational Residential School survivors that terrorize the streets of Western Canada.

They will all be premiering new songs about Truth & Reconciliation, Residential Schools and the Healing Journey.

CBC radio and NCI FM will present this live on the site of a former Indian Residential School. The concert is free and open to everyone.

The Long Plains First Nation will be holding a gathering of Residential School Survivors on June 5th and 6th. The event will feature workshops for survivors as well as a number of special events. Some of these include the passing of the flame of hope, where a torch will be passed on to another first nation to inspire the healing journey of that community, and a traditional “wiping away the tears” ceremony. This ceremony is usually done to relieve the misery of a grieving family, but will be modified to help improve the feelings of the attendees and to help them let go of their pain.
